SEALING |
 |
Air
Sealing is a technique applied to your home using
foams and insulations to block all areas of air infiltration
and escape.
The goal of air sealing is to keep the air your heating
and ac systems are creating encapsulated within the walls
of your home.
You should not have to pay hard-earned money to heat or
cool the great outdoors! Global Warming is doing that
all by itself! |
| These
are techniques and theories that are typically applied
to your: |
| Attic |
Basement |
| Crawlspace |
Windows |
|
Doors |
|
|
| As well
as the passages used within your walls to pass electrical, HVAC
and plumbing from one floor to another. Also, as your home ages,
the construction materials used to build your home shrink in
size – typically wherever sheetrock meets the wood frame.
These materials shrink in different directions, creating a gap
between them. This allows the cold or warm air from your basement
/ crawlspace or attic to pass into your living spaces. Air sealing
prevents this from happening. |
| People
have been misled into thinking that insulation is the answer
to your energy conservation needs. In fact, if you don’t
stop air movement, insulation is very ineffective. Air passes
through insulation. Just like water, air always finds a way.
By air sealing, you stop this process. |
| HOW
DOES IT WORK? |
| We
depressurize your home using high capacity blower fans
and then take measurements of the amount of air leaving
your home through this blower. |
 |
|
This tells us how much air sealing is needed to be applied
to your home to allow the proper amount of infiltration
so you can still breathe with your doors closed and also
to allow for the correct amount of makeup combustion air
for your furnace, stove, water heater or any open-flame
appliance to function properly. |
